Track a council permit
Keep the permit on the job, with a reminder before it expires.
What this is for
A permit that lapses stops an install on the day. Recording it against the job keeps the reference and the expiry where the person doing the work will see them, and warns you before the date passes.

What is on this screen
Each part of the screen above, top to bottom, and what changing it affects.
Details tab → Council permits
- Add permit
- Authority, reference number, expiry date, the approval document.
- The list
- Each permit with its state; a reminder lands in Notifications before expiry, not on the day.
Before you start
- Have the permit reference and its expiry date.
Step by step
- 1
Open the job. Council permits is on the Details tab, under Project tasks. Press Add permit.
- 2
Add the permit: which authority, the reference number, and the date it expires.
- 3
Attach the approval document so the installer has it on site.
- 4
Save. Sign OS reminds you before the expiry rather than on the day.
Tips & gotchas
- Record it when you apply, not when it is granted. A pending permit that nobody has chased is the thing that delays the job.
- If the install slips past the expiry, the permit is the first thing to re-check — the customer will assume you did.
